You mentioned that a problem can be tackled in a number of ways. That one can ponder a while on the merits of different solutions, but sometimes, it's better to take a suboptimal decision than to take no decision at all. That as captain you are not onboard to be politcal, poetical, diplomatical, or scientifical.

You make the decisions, and take the responsibility for it.
That's an amazing analogy and advise.

Hello Sir. i came accross you're site when looking for dredging companies. I'm a Portuguese junior officer and at the moment I'm 3rd mate in a vessel.
I want to start working in dredgers but I don't know where to start looking. It looks like in Beligium and Netherlands there are a few companies, but they look to be quite closed for foreigners.
I'm really interested in changing for dredgers but I cant seem to find where to start. Could you give me any good advice?? Where can I look for?? What can I expect?
Thank you for your time,
sincerely,
Jose

dear marc
reaction on topics ,,crew,,
to keep the crew update are also the social conditions very important.
many jobs are already done for 50 procent when the crew is together on the bamboe bar with a few beers and talking about the job.
a few beers pay from the captain of superintendend making it better
